Young Adult Literacy Internship Program

Do you want your GED?

Are you between the ages of 16-24, out of school, unemployed or underemployed?

Would you like an internship or the opportunity to get paid work experience while you’re studying for your GED?

The CAMBA Young Adult Literacy Program is a free career readiness program that helps young adults obtain their GED and learn job skills.  The program offers small class size, individualized attention, computer instruction, and free Metro Cards for regular attendance.

Attend 15 hours per week of classroom instruction to prepare for the High School Equivalency exam. In addition, gain computer literacy, and receive vocational assistance. Students are expected to participate in our internship component.  Here they are offered the opportunity to build a work history, gather references, and learn new skills.  We currently have internships at a variety of places including the Brooklyn Public Library (3 Branches), Haitian Family Resource Center, Pawsitive Veterinary, and other CAMBA programs.  Interns are required to work a minimum of 6 hours per week; in return students receive a $50 visa giftcard for the week worked.

The program runs Monday-Friday for the whole year. You can attend our morning class (9 to 12) or our afternoon session (1 to 4).
